Child Related Offence Support

Find support in a safe and confidential setting designed for men who have offended against a child, whether online or in person.

Groundbreaking Australian research from UNSW (2023) found that:

1 in 7 men (14%) reported some level of sexual attraction to minors.

Nearly 1 in 10 men (9.4%) admitted to having sexually offended against a child—whether through online behaviour (such as accessing Child Exploitation Material) or a hands-on offence.

These statistics highlight the urgent need for early intervention and safe places for men to seek help before further harm is caused.

If your sexual behaviours have led you to offend against a child—or you are at risk of doing so — whether through accessing Child Exploitation Material (CEM) online or through a hands-on offence—you may feel trapped, ashamed, and unsure where to turn for help. Seeking support in this area is one of the hardest, yet most important, steps you can take.

At Breaking Chains Therapy, we are trained and experienced in supporting men who face these struggles. Our role is not to judge you, but to help you confront the underlying issues driving your behaviour, develop empathy and responsibility, and build a safe and healthier life going forward.

We also recognise that safety and confidentiality are major concerns for anyone seeking this kind of help. By law, if a child is at current risk of harm, we are required to make a report. Outside of this, your sessions remain confidential. For those who would rather remain anonymous, you are not required to provide any identifiable information—we only need an email address to send your Zoom link. You may choose to keep your camera off, and payments can be made with a Visa/MasterCard Gift Card if you do not wish to use personal banking details.

For those who have already been charged, we can provide a court report that shows your commitment to taking responsibility and actively addressing your behaviour.

It is recommended to begin with at least six structured sessions, which may include:

  1. Introduction and goal-setting

  2. Exploring the six roots of addiction (sexualised society, the addicted brain, isolation, negative emotions, shame, and trauma)

  3. Understanding abusive behaviours and their impact

  4. Exploring your own childhood and past trauma

  5. Developing empathy toward those harmed

  6. Relapse prevention strategies and building healthier coping skills

This process is designed to go deeper than surface change. It creates a foundation for taking responsibility, preventing relapse, and breaking the destructive cycle of offending.

Cost AUD $100 per session (50 minutes)

The SafeCare Group Program is a specialist, community-based treatment program for men who have offended against children (CSA/CEM) or who are at risk of doing so. The program provides a safe, structured environment where participants can take responsibility for their actions, build empathy, and learn strategies for long-term change.

Over 20–30 weekly sessions, participants explore the following 4 modules:

  1. Understanding harmful behaviours – recognising abusive behaviour, its impact, and taking responsibility.

  2. Healing childhood issues – addressing trauma and emotional blocks that contribute to offending.

  3. Building empathy – developing awareness of personal boundaries, victim impact, and healthy emotional expression.

  4. Relapse prevention & positive sexuality – identifying risk factors, learning coping strategies, and fostering safe, healthy relationships.

Facilitators draw on proven methods including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic and developmental models, and experiential therapies such as role play, art, and drama. The program is evidence-based, trauma-informed, and delivered within a supportive group setting.

The Group meets weekly for 2.5 hours

Limited to 10 participants for confidentiality and group safety

Cost AUD $100 per session (Medicare rebates may apply)

Next group starts February 2026

I offended online and as a result I am on the child sex register. I had much guilt and shame to work through and was anxious about my future. I was fortunate enough to get in touch with Kent. I believe this was the turning point for me and I will be forever grateful.

To find someone who was empathetic and compassionate helped me to not feel so lonely and isolated. Kent did not excuse my behaviour and he certainly didn’t condemn me. Through his guidance and the support, I learned to face my past honestly, take responsibility for my actions and start building a safer, healthier future.

Kent helped me to understand the deeper patterns that lead to my behaviour and gave me the tools to change. He has encouraged me throughout my journey and helped to keep me accountable. I now have the hope that I can live differently – with integrity, empathy and awareness.
